Dr. Manmohit Kalia joined the lab as a postdoctoral research associate. He joined us a bit later than initially planned because of COVID-19 and arrived during the worst of the pandemic but we are glad he made it.

Dr. Kathryn Cherny started her new position as Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago at Northwestern University.

Matt Kaletta, a 4th year graduate student in the Sauer lab, is presenting his exctiting research findings on biofilm drug tolerance at the Biological Sciences Departmental seminar.

Dr. James Goodwine, a former graduate student in the lab, has accepted a postdoc position in Dr. Clarissa Nobile's lab at the University of California Merced. Hooray to Jim!

Emma Glynn, an undergraduate student in our lab, was awarded the Dr. Joseph J. Eron '80 Undergraduate Scholarship.   Congratulations, Emma!

Dr. Soyoung Park and Dr. Kathryn Cherny have joined the lab as postdoctoral research associates

The Sauer lab attended the 8th ASM conference on biofilms in Washington, DC, and presented 5 posters. Overall, 11 members of the Biofilm group presented at this conference.

Kathryn Cherny and James (Jim) Goodwine have successfully defended their Dissertations. Jim attended the hooding ceremony this year while Katie will attend

next Spring.

Dr. Olga Petrova accepted a position at the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Partnershipsat Binghamton University. Congratulations, Olga!

Hooray to Kathryn Cherny who is now her own boss. Kathryn launched a new start-up company named microBella that is pairing her expertise in microbiology and her love of cosmetics to develop skincare products that are made using a combination of traditional soap-making techniques and cutting-edge science. James (Jim) Goodwine presented his research at the Departmental seminar. 

Jacob Chambers, a former postdoc in the lab, accepted a faculty position  at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Buffalo. Congratulations, Jake!

Four of our graduate students from the biofilm group graduated this Spring. Among them was Bandita Poudyal (2nd from the left) who defended her PhD dissertation in December 2016.
